Why Safety Matters—The Story Behind Paulette Maray Bedding and OEKO-TEX® Certification

When I began designing the Paulette Maray Bedding Collection, comfort and elegance were at the forefront of my vision. I wanted bedding that felt luxurious, looked stunning, and stood the test of time. But as I delved deeper into the design process, one question kept coming up: How can I ensure this bedding is safe for you and your family?

That’s when I learned about the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification—a globally recognized mark of safety that guarantees textiles are free from harmful substances. For me, it wasn’t just about creating a beautiful product; it was about giving you peace of mind every time you climb into bed.

What is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100?
Simply put, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 means every part of our bedding—from the fabric to the threads and even the dyes—has been rigorously tested to ensure it’s free from harmful chemicals. It’s an international gold standard for textile safety, and I knew it was non-negotiable for the Paulette Maray Bedding Collection.

What Harmful Substances Could Be in Non-Certified Bedding?
Unfortunately, not all bedding is created equal. Without certifications like OEKO-TEX®, textiles can contain:

  • Formaldehyde: Used to make fabrics wrinkle-resistant but can cause skin irritation or respiratory issues.
  • Heavy Metals (like lead or cadmium): Found in dyes and finishes; long-term exposure can be toxic.
  • Pesticides: Traces may remain in non-organic cotton products.
  • Allergens: Certain chemical finishes can trigger allergic reactions or sensitivities.

When you lay your head down at night, you shouldn’t have to worry about what’s in your bedding. With OEKO-TEX® certification, I’ve ensured that worry is completely eliminated.

Is All Bedding in the U.S. Certified?
Here’s the truth: While the U.S. has regulations for some harmful substances in textiles, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is not a requirement for bedding sold here. That means there’s no universal guarantee that every sheet, duvet, or pillowcase you purchase is free from potentially harmful substances—unless it carries a certification like OEKO-TEX®.

This is why I was so adamant about going the extra mile to have Paulette Maray Bedding tested and certified. It’s one thing to meet minimum legal standards; it’s another to exceed them.

Why I Chose OEKO-TEX® for Paulette Maray Bedding
Designing the Paulette Maray Bedding Collection wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about creating something I could proudly stand behind. I wanted you to have bedding that’s not only luxurious but also safe.
